Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.7 on April 16, 2026. The model targets complex software-engineering tasks and long-running coding assignments with improved instruction-following and built-in output verification before reporting results. Vision capability rose sharply: Opus 4.7 now accepts images up to 2,576 pixels on the long edge, more than three times the prior limit. Pricing stays flat against Opus 4.6 at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens — the first Opus generation uplift without a price bump. Anthropic disclosed that an unreleased model, internally called Mythos, outperforms 4.7 on benchmarks but was held back as too risky. Claude Code ships alongside with Opus 4.7 on an xhigh effort level, Auto mode for Max subscribers, /effort and /ultrareview commands, and terminal-matching theme refinements.
